The total cost of a standard 14 to 16 day Manaslu Circuit Trek in 2026 generally ranges from $900 to $1,400 per person, depending on the services and group size. Group joining treks are usually more affordable, while a private trek costs slightly more per person because the guide, transportation and other services are arranged exclusively for your group. The final price also depends on factors such as the number of trekkers, trekking season, transportation, accommodation, itinerary length, permits and additional services. Customized and luxury private treks with upgraded services can cost $2,000 or more per person.

Yes, you can book the Manaslu Circuit Trek as a solo traveler. On March 22, 2026, Nepal’s Department of Immigration removed the previous requirement that trekkers in restricted areas such as Manaslu had to be part of a group of at least two people. This means a single traveler can now obtain a Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (MRAP) in their own name.

However, this does not mean that you can trek the Manaslu Circuit completely alone. A licensed trekking guide is still compulsory, and the trek must be arranged through a registered trekking agency.

What does the new rule mean for solo travelers?

Previously, if you wanted to trek the Manaslu Circuit alone, you needed to find another trekker because the restricted-area permit required a minimum of two trekkers.

For example:

Before March 22, 2026:
You wanted to trek Manaslu by yourself, but you could not obtain the restricted-area permit as a party of one. You had to find another traveler and trek as a group of at least two.

Now, in 2026:
You can travel to Nepal by yourself, book a private Manaslu Circuit Trek for one person, and obtain the required restricted-area permit individually. Your trekking agency will arrange the permit and provide a licensed guide for the journey.

For example, if John from Australia comes to Nepal alone and wants to trek the Manaslu Circuit, he does not need to find another traveler before booking. He can book a private trek for 1 trekker + 1 licensed guide. The agency arranges his Manaslu Restricted Area Permit and other required permits, and John can complete the trek with his guide.

Can I trek Manaslu completely alone without a guide?

No. The 2026 rule removed the minimum two-trekker requirement, but it did not remove the compulsory guide requirement. Therefore, you can be a solo traveler, but you cannot legally do the Manaslu Circuit as a completely independent trekker without a guide.

In simple terms:

Solo traveler = Yes
One trekker + one licensed guide = Yes
One trekker without a guide = No

This change makes the Manaslu Circuit much easier for people who want a private trek but do not have a trekking partner.

Yes. We offer group joining options for trekkers who want to travel with other people and reduce the per-person cost. You can choose from available fixed departure dates, or contact us if your preferred date is not listed. We can also arrange a private Manaslu Circuit Trek for couples, families, friends and small groups.

Booking is simple. Send us your preferred travel dates, number of trekkers and the type of trek you want. We will recommend the appropriate itinerary, confirm availability, explain the price and inclusions, and help arrange the required permits and trekking services. You can choose a group departure or private trek, and the itinerary can be customized to suit your schedule.

A typical Manaslu Circuit Trek takes 12 to 15 days, including transportation from Kathmandu, trekking days, acclimatization, and the journey back to Kathmandu. The exact duration depends on your starting point, transportation options, trekking pace, and acclimatization schedule.

For most trekkers, 14 days is a comfortable option that allows enough time to enjoy the scenery, villages, local culture, and high mountain landscapes without rushing.

If you want more time for photography, rest, cultural experiences, or additional acclimatization, you can choose a longer customized itinerary. Adding the Tsum Valley Trek also requires additional days, usually making the overall trip around 18 to 23 days, depending on the itinerary.

The best time to trek the Manaslu Circuit is during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). Among these months, October is generally considered the best month because of stable weather, clear mountain views, and excellent trail conditions.

Autumn: September to November

Autumn is the most popular trekking season in the Manaslu region.

  • Clear mountain views: The skies are usually clear after the monsoon, offering excellent views of Manaslu and the surrounding peaks.
  • Stable weather: Dry conditions and relatively predictable weather make this an ideal season for crossing Larkya La Pass (5,106 m).
  • Comfortable trekking conditions: Days are generally pleasant, while temperatures become colder at higher elevations.
  • Local festivals: If you trek during this season, you may also experience important Nepalese and local mountain festivals.

October is usually the best choice if your priority is clear views and stable trekking conditions.

Spring: March to May

Spring is another excellent season for the Manaslu Circuit Trek, particularly for travelers who enjoy nature and quieter trails.

  • Rhododendron blooms: The lower and middle sections of the trail become colorful with blooming rhododendrons.
  • Warmer weather: Daytime temperatures are generally comfortable for trekking, although nights remain cold at higher elevations.
  • Good mountain views: Visibility is generally good, especially during the earlier part of spring.
  • Fewer trekkers: The trails can be less busy than during the autumn peak season.

What About the Monsoon and Winter?

June to August: The monsoon brings heavy rainfall, slippery trails, muddy sections, landslide risks, and leeches in the lower parts of the route. Trekking is possible in some years, but conditions can be challenging.

December to February: Winter brings very cold temperatures and heavy snowfall at higher elevations. Larkya La Pass can become difficult or temporarily impossible to cross because of snow and harsh weather.

Quick Recommendation

If you want the best overall trekking experience, choose October or November in autumn or April and May in spring. For the clearest mountain views and the most reliable conditions, October is usually the top choice.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a challenging high-altitude trek and is not considered an easy beginner trek. The route involves long walking days, steep and uneven mountain trails, remote terrain, and crossing Larkya La Pass at around 5,100 metres.

The trek does not require technical climbing skills, ropes, or mountaineering equipment, but good physical fitness, proper acclimatization, and preparation are essential. Most trekking days involve around 5 to 7 hours of walking, with the pass-crossing day being particularly demanding.

Can Beginners Do the Manaslu Circuit?

Yes, fit and well-prepared beginners can complete the Manaslu Circuit Trek with proper support. Previous high-altitude trekking experience is helpful but not absolutely necessary.

If you are a beginner, we recommend:

  • Training with regular walking, hiking, and cardiovascular exercise before the trek
  • Following a gradual itinerary with enough acclimatization days
  • Maintaining a slow and steady walking pace
  • Staying properly hydrated and taking care of your health at high altitude
  • Trekking with a licensed and experienced guide
  • Being prepared for cold weather and changing mountain conditions

The trek may not be suitable for people with very low fitness levels or no experience with long-distance walking.

If you are completely new to trekking but are physically fit and willing to train, the Manaslu Circuit is still possible. For an easier first Himalayan trek, Annapurna Base Camp or Ghorepani Poon Hill can be good alternatives before taking on a high-altitude trek like Manaslu.

Yes. The Manaslu Circuit Trek can be customized according to your travel dates, walking pace, interests, and preferred level of comfort. You can also add the Tsum Valley to create a longer Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek.

A standard Manaslu Circuit usually takes around 12 to 15 days, while combining it with Tsum Valley generally takes around 18 to 24 days, depending on the itinerary and the number of acclimatization or rest days you choose.

What Can I Customize?

You can adjust the itinerary to suit your personal travel plans, including:

  • Add Tsum Valley for additional cultural and spiritual experiences
  • Add extra acclimatization or rest days
  • Adjust daily walking distances and trekking pace
  • Add extra days in Kathmandu
  • Include additional cultural or monastery visits
  • Choose a shorter or longer trekking itinerary
  • Arrange a private Manaslu Trek based on your preferred dates

What Is the Tsum Valley Extension?

The Tsum Valley is a remote Himalayan valley known for its Tibetan Buddhist culture, ancient monasteries, traditional villages, and quieter trails. When added to the Manaslu Circuit, the route normally branches toward Lokpa, continues deeper into the Tsum Valley, and later rejoins the main Manaslu route.

Adding Tsum Valley usually requires about 6 to 9 additional trekking days, depending on your itinerary. A separate Tsum Valley Restricted Area Permit is also required in addition to the other permits for the Manaslu Circuit.

Is a Private Trek Better for Customization?

Yes. A private Manaslu Trek offers the most flexibility. You can choose your own departure date and adjust the itinerary according to your walking ability, available time, and interests.

For example, if you have 20 days in Nepal, instead of following a fixed 14-day Manaslu itinerary, you can combine the Manaslu Circuit with Tsum Valley, add an acclimatization day, and include additional time in Kathmandu.

If you are interested in a customize Manaslu Trek, you can tell us your travel dates, group size, available days, and any places you want to visit, and the itinerary can be designed around your requirements.

Yes, we offer fixed departure dates for the Manaslu Circuit Trek throughout the main trekking seasons. Solo travelers and small groups can join our scheduled departures and trek with other travelers. We also offer private Manaslu Circuit Trek options for travelers who prefer a more flexible itinerary and departure date.

Choosing the right trekking company is especially important for the Manaslu Circuit Trek because the route is a restricted, remote and high-altitude trekking region. A good agency should provide more than just permits and accommodation. You need a team that understands the route, altitude, local communities, transportation, weather conditions and the challenges of crossing Larkya La Pass.

Here are 15 reasons to choose Manaslu Treks and Expedition for your Manaslu adventure:

1. We Specialize in the Manaslu Region

Manaslu is our main area of expertise rather than simply one of many trekking destinations we sell. Our team has specific experience operating on the Manaslu Circuit and understands the route from the lower Budhi Gandaki Valley through Samagaun and Samdo to Larkya La Pass.

This local specialization allows us to design itineraries based on the actual conditions of the trail rather than simply following a standard schedule.

2. Experienced Local Guides

Your guide is one of the most important parts of a Manaslu trek. Our guides are licensed, experienced and familiar with the terrain, villages, teahouses and high-altitude sections of the route.

Our lead guide has crossed Larkya La Pass more than 20 times, giving our team extensive first-hand experience of the most demanding section of the circuit.

3. Proper Acclimatization Planning

We do not believe in rushing trekkers toward Larkya La Pass. A properly structured itinerary includes time for your body to adjust to increasing altitude.

Our pre-trek briefing covers altitude, safety and trail conditions, while guides carry a first-aid kit and pulse oximeter during the trek.

4. All Required Permits Are Arranged for You

Manaslu requires several permits and local fees, and the process can be confusing for first-time visitors.

We arrange the required Manaslu Restricted Area Permit, Manaslu Conservation Area Permit, Annapurna Conservation Area Permit and applicable local fees, allowing you to focus on preparing for the trek instead of dealing with government paperwork.

5. Solo Travelers Are Welcome

You do not need to find a trekking partner before contacting us. Solo travelers can book a private Manaslu Circuit Trek with a dedicated guide.

This is particularly useful for travelers who want the freedom of traveling alone but still require professional support in the restricted Manaslu region.

6. Private and Customized Itineraries

Not everyone wants to complete Manaslu at the same pace.

We can customize your itinerary according to your available time, fitness level and interests. You can request additional acclimatization days, shorter walking days, extra Kathmandu time or a longer itinerary.

You can also combine the Manaslu Circuit with Tsum Valley for a deeper cultural and Himalayan experience.

7. Transparent Pricing

We aim to make the cost of your trek clear before you arrive. Our package information explains what is included and what you should budget for separately, such as travel insurance, personal expenses, tips and international flights.

Our current 2026 pricing varies according to group size and itinerary, with solo and small-group options available.

8. No Unnecessary Upgrades

We believe important trekking services should be included from the beginning rather than presented as expensive extras later.

Depending on your confirmed package, services can include permits, guide, porter, accommodation, meals, transportation, airport transfers, sleeping bag and down jacket.

9. Porter Support

Carrying a heavy backpack at high altitude can make a difficult trek unnecessarily harder.

Our standard packages include porter support based on the group size, with one porter generally supporting two trekkers within the specified weight limit. This allows you to carry only the essentials in your daypack while your main luggage is transported between lodges.

10. Local Cultural Knowledge

The Manaslu Circuit is not only about mountains. The route passes through traditional villages, Buddhist monasteries, prayer walls and communities influenced by Tibetan culture.

Our local team can help you understand the traditions, history and daily life of the communities you encounter rather than simply walking from one teahouse to another.

11. Emergency and Communication Support

Manaslu is a remote trekking region, so having support available when something unexpected happens is important.

Our trekking packages include emergency support arrangements, first-aid equipment carried by the guide and ongoing operational support from Kathmandu. Emergency helicopter evacuation is arranged when medically necessary and is subject to your travel insurance coverage.

12. Pre-Trek Briefing and Gear Check

Before you leave Kathmandu, our team provides a pre-trek briefing covering important information about the route, altitude, safety and current trail conditions.

We can also help check your trekking equipment and provide items such as a sleeping bag and down jacket when included or requested as part of your booking.

13. We Understand That Trekkers Have Different Needs

A 25-year-old experienced trekker and a first-time Himalayan trekker in their 50s may need completely different itineraries.

Instead of forcing every traveler into exactly the same schedule, we can discuss your experience, walking pace, available time and expectations before recommending an itinerary.

14. Support From Arrival to Departure

Our service does not begin when you reach the trailhead.

Depending on your package, we can arrange airport transfers, Kathmandu accommodation, transportation to the trekking starting point, the trek itself and return transportation from Dharapani. This gives you one team coordinating the major logistics of your journey.

15. We Focus on the Experience, Not Just the Booking

The Manaslu Circuit is a once-in-a-lifetime journey for many trekkers. We want the experience to be about more than simply completing a list of destinations.

Our goal is to provide a safe, well-organized and personalized trek while giving you enough time to appreciate the mountains, villages, monasteries and local culture along the way.

Why Choose Us for Your Manaslu Trek?

If you are looking for a Manaslu trekking specialist rather than a company that treats Manaslu as just another package, our local experience, customized itineraries, experienced guides and complete trekking support can make the difference.

Whether you are planning a solo Manaslu Circuit Trek, private Manaslu Trek, group departure or Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek, we can build the itinerary around your travel dates, interests and trekking experience.
